Job Description

The Water Institute is a not-for-profit, independent applied research and technical services institute headquartered in Louisiana. Our mission is to help coastal and deltaic communities prepare for an uncertain future.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager/Project Manager to manage key Institute projects, including projects within the Community Resilience Center. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, with experience in managing complex projects and teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a program of linked projects to achieve the overall objective of the program and the individual projects.
  • Conduct meetings and issue correspondence to ensure project work proceeds in accordance with the relevant agreement/contract and required scope.
  • Lead management and development of the work breakdown structure.
  • Make subconsultant/subrecipient selections, support the Director of Grants and Contracts to execute contracts, and monitor subconsultant/subrecipient work.
  • Recommend and/or coordinate changes with clients and partners as required.
  • Perform overall quality control by reviewing for scope, schedule, and project team coordination.
  • Monitor client and partner satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in the social sciences, natural sciences, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Gulf stakeholders related to coastal climate resilience, environmental justice, or other relevant sectors.
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of contracts, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Able to execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to discern and clearly communicate the client's goals.
  • Able to supervise technical work.
