Key Responsibilities

This role is situated within the U.S. Department of the Interior, specifically within the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, focusing on the Pacific OCS Region. The primary responsibilities at the full performance level (GS-14) encompass the following:

1. Oversee the coordination of renewable energy initiatives across the Pacific Region, leveraging both technical expertise and administrative leadership.

2. Identify and engage key stakeholders at a programmatic level, crafting outreach strategies to address overarching opportunities or challenges related to renewable energy projects.

3. Analyze and propose solutions for policy-related issues impacting the renewable energy sector, providing recommendations for decision-making at regional, bureau, or departmental levels.

4. Contribute to the design and identification of studies pertinent to the regional renewable energy program, and present findings at professional gatherings to communicate essential program elements and policies.

5. Review and evaluate directives, regulations (both current and proposed), and legislative initiatives from an OCS program perspective, delivering management with insights on the implications of such proposals on regional and departmental operations.

6. Execute comprehensive supervisory responsibilities, including planning and assigning work, evaluating performance, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and team cohesion.

New hires in the federal government typically start at the beginning of the salary range for their respective grade level.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the Specialized Experience criteria for the series/grade to which they are applying.

Specialized Experience:

To qualify for the GS-14 level, candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Acting as an authority in the planning, direction, and timely execution of activities related to the siting and development of renewable energy projects; AND Advising leadership on the potential impacts of energy resource management policies and programs; AND Facilitating collaboration with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, tribal governments, and public and industry groups, while addressing issues related to the siting and permitting of renewable energy projects; AND Reviewing and analyzing renewable energy projects in accordance with relevant legislation, including the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, or Endangered Species Act; AND Coordinating resources, managing risks, and ensuring project delivery aligns with organizational objectives.
