Overview
Barnes & Noble Education, Inc. is on the lookout for a resourceful, driven, and adaptable individual who is focused on customer satisfaction to join our team as a Retail Operations Supervisor.

The Retail Operations Supervisor will assist the Store or General Manager in the everyday management of our retail establishment.

Your role will involve supervising staff and tasks, directly interacting with customers, and playing a crucial part in executing the directives of the management team.

Essential skills for this position include cash handling, customer service, team building, and problem-solving, all of which will be utilized on a daily basis.

Responsibilities
As a Retail Operations Supervisor, you will collaborate with the Store Manager or General Manager to support all operational functions and departments.

Your responsibilities may include purchasing for various departments, overseeing operational tasks, and assisting with scheduling and team development.

Consistently delivering outstanding customer service to the academic and co-curricular community while helping the store achieve or surpass sales targets, identifying business opportunities, and motivating our team will be paramount.

In terms of people management, you may be directly involved in training, guiding, and advising our team to foster enthusiasm around our products, programs, and initiatives.

Driving our team to create customer experiences that enhance bookstore loyalty and yield measurable results will be an everyday expectation.


Expectations:


• Develop a comprehensive understanding of all store departments to provide daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members.
• Assign and oversee work activities for team members or other management personnel to ensure the delivery of services, sales, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a visible presence on the sales floor to greet customers, respond to inquiries, and assist with merchandise or service purchases as needed.
• Address customer and/or employee issues in a timely and respectful manner.
• Assist in the recruitment and training of new employees for the sales floor or other departments.
• Ensure an appealing sales floor by arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or spaces within the store.
• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.

Physical Demands:
• Frequent movement throughout the store to access various departments, areas, and products.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting required.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

COVID-19 Considerations:
Our stores adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local guidelines regarding social distancing and sanitization. Depending on individual campus requirements, positions may necessitate confirmation of vaccination. The use of face masks throughout the day and while on campus may also be expected or mandated.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in a retail environment.
• 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred or completion of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
