Position Overview

The selected candidate will focus on engineering material handling systems, particularly in the development of conveyor and sortation solutions tailored for parcel and tote applications. This role necessitates the integration of both Daifuku-manufactured and third-party hardware to meet or surpass customer expectations. The candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment that requires collaboration with controls, software engineering, and project management teams. Responsibilities include performing engineering and estimating tasks for various industry subsystems, managing system retrofits, upgrades, and aftermarket sales activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design and Enhancement: Refine the scope of work based on customer requirements and sales equipment application standards. Design and enhance conveyor systems, including receiving, shipping, picking, packing, routing, and buffer subsystems.
  • Product Design Review: Ensure adherence to engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications.
  • Technical Coordination: Oversee activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and testing challenges.
  • Drawing Creation: Generate approval, permit, and installation drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Quoting and Purchase Orders: Source material and product quotes from vendors and collaborate with purchasing teams to issue purchase orders.
  • Project Monitoring: Track project schedules, engineering time, and material costs while prioritizing and managing multiple projects during Execution and Quote Phases.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other project disciplines to ensure engineered solutions align with system constraints.
  • Customer Interaction: Engage in travel for measuring buildings, inventorying equipment, commissioning systems, and interfacing with customers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Proposal Development: Assist in quoting and proposal development in collaboration with the Direct Amazon Account Manager, focusing on scope development and pricing for aftermarket opportunities.
  • Solutions Development: Estimate project costs and support sales efforts by visiting job sites for customer meetings and surveys.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in material handling.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).

Project Management:

  • Ability to manage intermediate-sized project assignments with minimal supervision.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the material handling industry and ability to collaborate across teams and divisions.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders.

Problem-Solving:

  • Capable of analyzing complex issues and devising innovative solutions.

Team Orientation:

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
