Position Summary:
The Electrical Project Engineer I will engage in design enhancement initiatives for existing products, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the technical aspects of projects from conception through to validation testing.
- Design components for Medium Voltage switchgear according to specified requirements.
- Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to select and approve component parts and assemblies.
- Develop and test prototype components or assemblies as necessary during the change management and validation processes.
- Document processes, material needs, test outcomes, and project activities as required.
- Provide engineering support to sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams for both new and existing products.
- Manage project schedules and coordinate efforts for projects of varying complexity with minimal supervision.
- Guide junior technical staff, including CAD Designers and Technicians.
- Engage with customer representatives to clarify product specifications and resolve design or manufacturing challenges.
- Prepare budgetary and resource assessments related to projects within your purview.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in engineering design or development.
- Experience working on complex technical projects with some oversight.
- Familiarity with project management and team leadership.
- Proficient in root-cause analysis and computer analysis tools (FEA, kinematic & dynamic analysis).
- Ability to create innovative engineering designs.
- Competent in using hand and power tools.
- Experience with PRO-E or other 3-D CAD software.
- Familiarity with PCB design and schematic design for electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of statics and material properties.
- Effective communication skills.
- Adept at interpreting technical standards.
- Ability to produce technical documentation, including test reports and engineering standards, with some guidance.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong initiative to complete tasks promptly.
- Desire to learn new methodologies.
