Position Summary

We are in search of a driven Production Manager to oversee all facets of production operations, ensuring that targets related to volume, cost, and quality are consistently met. The Production Manager will be responsible for planning and establishing work schedules, staffing needs, and production sequences to optimize productivity. This role requires a thorough analysis of production processes and the ability to recommend enhancements for continuous improvement. Familiarity with various concepts, practices, and procedures related to modern Lean manufacturing processes is essential. Extensive experience and sound judgment will be crucial in achieving organizational goals.

  • Supervise technician staff in the production and delivery of diverse hardware through factory acceptance, managing priorities, equipment, and personnel associated with the production line.
  • Establish priorities and direct daily operations, ensuring timely issuance and completion of work orders on the production floor.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain current safety training for team members, documenting incidents and proactively addressing workplace hazards.
  • Lead, mentor, and support production technicians to enhance team performance.
  • Prioritize tasks for operators to meet on-time delivery objectives.
  • Maintain quality standards throughout the production process, ensuring no defects leave any station or team area.
  • Prepare high-level reports for Production Managers, Directors, and the Head of Manufacturing as required.
  • Oversee daily manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Analyze available data and allocate resources to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Utilize operation rates and duration estimates to manage schedules and resource availability.
  • Develop and maintain weekly and monthly production schedules to achieve set production goals.
  • Assist management in creating detailed project schedules as necessary.
  • Update schedules as needed and revise order details to ensure current information is accessible.
  • Compile regular production schedules to ensure job commencement dates are met.
  • Prepare relevant production reports.
  • Refine accuracy of planned hours for future orders.
  • Manage Six Sigma projects and other continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Assist in gathering information for monthly Key Performance Indicators.

Experience and Skills

In compliance with federal law, all individuals hired will be required to verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the necessary employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in an operations management or supervisory role in a relevant field.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with DoD environments, including MIL-STDs, FAR, DFAR, and typical government deliverable formats.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in manufacturing operations management.
  • Training or certification in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
