Position Summary

We are in search of a highly motivated and seasoned Production Manager responsible for overseeing the operations across all production sectors to ensure that volume, cost, and quality benchmarks are consistently met. The Production Manager will strategize and establish work schedules, staffing needs, and production sequences to optimize productivity. This role involves conducting production process evaluations and proposing enhancements for process improvements. The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in production alongside a comprehensive understanding of identifying and preempting potential issues, refining processes, and transitioning designs to the manufacturing floor. This position demands a robust problem-solver capable of driving efficiency and quality enhancements throughout the production workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily production operations, ensuring all processes function smoothly and efficiently while meeting quality and production objectives.
  • Oversee and prioritize the equipment and personnel associated with the production line.
  • Establish priorities and direct daily operations, including the timely issuance and completion of work orders on the production floor.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to ensure manufacturability of designs, facilitating seamless transitions from design to production while addressing potential production challenges early in the design phase.
  • Monitor production performance metrics and generate comprehensive reports for senior management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for ongoing improvement, with a focus on efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinate with program managers to align production schedules with project timelines, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery of all outputs.
  • Develop weekly and monthly production schedules and achieve associated targets.
  • Prepare high-level reports for Production Managers, Directors, and the Head of Manufacturing as necessary, ensuring transparency and accountability in production operations.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, maintain current safety training, and document any Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) incidents.
  • Proactively address workplace hazards and empower teams to continuously enhance safety and operational processes.
  • Guide, mentor, and support production technicians, prioritizing work activities to meet on-time delivery objectives.
  • Guarantee that quality standards are consistently upheld throughout the production process, supporting zero-defect outcomes from all stations.
  • Utilize operation rates and duration estimates to schedule start and completion dates, adjusting timelines as necessary to maintain accurate and up-to-date production plans.
  • Compile and maintain a regular production schedule to ensure job start dates are met.
  • Manage Six Sigma and other continuous improvement initiatives within the department, refining planned hours for future orders.
  • Assist in gathering information for monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in an operations management role within the electronics sector.
  • Experience in transitioning designs to production and collaborating with design and engineering teams.
  • Experience in working with program managers to align schedules and meet project objectives.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Background in a DoD environment, including familiarity with MIL-STDs, FAR, DFAR, and government contracting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effective collaboration across organizational levels.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or engineering, or relevant experience in a manufacturing operations management role.
  • Training or certification in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
