About the Role



The Shift Superintendent directs and coordinates the activities of managers, supervisors, engineers, team members, and support staff to obtain optimum safety, quality, efficiency, and economy of operations while maximizing profits.



This is a 2nd Shift / M-F 3pm - 11pm position located at our Plant in Walker, MI, with a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. Responsibilities




  2. Assist in defining and prioritizing operational goals and objectives to meet corporate goals and customer deadlines.
  3. Direct the team in solving specific challenges and overcoming project roadblocks when necessary, so that agreed upon goals and objectives are met.
  4. Complete and present annual performance appraisals for all direct report employees, outlining positive and negative performance, and document a plan of action for sub-par performers.
  5. Assess the skill level of employees and provide training as needed to advance skills.
  6. Mentor operational and logistic team members, managers, team leaders, and other contributing members, assisting in creating professional and technical growth goals for each team member.
  7. Interface with customers on key issues to resolve and communicate action plans as needed.
  8. Communicate verbally and in writing using appropriate language and tone.
  9. Work with human resources department to recruit/hire employees needed to execute the functions of your responsible business area and help to influence the development of and implement strategies and programs that attract, develop, reward, and retain exceptional people.
  10. Direct and coordinate the activities of managers, supervisors, engineers, team members, and support staff to obtain optimum safety, quality, efficiency, and economy of operations while maximizing profits.


Requirements



To be successful in this role, you'll need:




  2. Proven leadership experience required.
  3. Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and stewardship processes.
  4. Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
  5. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  6. Union relations / experience in a union (UAW) environment strongly preferred.
  7. Experience with Plex Systems ERP strongly preferred.
  8. Previous experience in automotive industry preferred.
  9. Has high standards of performance for self.
  10. Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes.
  11. Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
