Job Title: Staff Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team at the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. As a key member of our Finance team, you will play a critical role in supporting our grant processing operations and ensuring the timely review and submission of grant and internship reimbursement requests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and process grant and internship reimbursement requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain datasets related to program awardees and participants, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Utilize strong analytical, communication, time management, and attention to detail skills to perform tasks efficiently.
  • Organize, assemble, proof, and process reimbursement requests, maintain Excel spreadsheets, and communicate with program participants.
  • Assist with weekly processing of Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Support the Finance team during fiscal year-end close process and audit.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Team and independent work capability.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Initiative in completing assignments within deadlines.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with NetSuite and SmartSimple software is desirable but not required.
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Work performed in both office and remote settings.
  • In-person work in Waltham, Massachusetts on Wednesdays and Thursdays, remote work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
  • Regular work schedule of 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Occasional adjustments to schedule and overtime may be required.
