SHARED SERVICES MANAGER
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Shared Services division within the First Line of Defense (1LOD) is dedicated to creating and sustaining tools and resources that empower Business Control Officers (BCOs) to fulfill their duties consistently and collaboratively.

Our Shared Services teams are instrumental in providing BCO functions with comprehensive reporting and analytics; evaluating and standardizing risk and control methodologies; formulating shared 1LOD risk and control protocols; and overseeing change management initiatives.

The Shared Services team plays a crucial role in spearheading, managing, and supporting both regulatory and internal issue resolution.

The Shared Services Manager is pivotal in fostering the enablement, adoption, and advancement of robust non-financial risk and control practices within CNB's 1LOD.

This position assists the Shared Services Senior Manager in crafting and implementing strategies that align with regulatory and risk governance mandates while consistently delivering high-quality tools and resources.

The Shared Services Manager collaborates closely with BCOs and other 1LOD Controls stakeholders, including the Shared Services Reporting & Analytics and Engagement teams; Royal Bank of Canada (RBC); CNB's second line of defense (2LOD) and third line of defense (3LOD); business units and functional/support teams; project managers; implementation leads; change owners and professionals; and various leaders and stakeholders to comprehend and address intricate and time-sensitive challenges.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Oversee and coordinate the review and feedback process for non-financial risk management frameworks, policies, and standards, ensuring their influence on 1LOD stakeholders – including necessary steps for 1LOD adoption – while nurturing positive and productive relationships with stakeholders across the organization and lines of defense.

Support the 1LOD Controls Office's operational model, which includes the evolution of a 1LOD risk management lifecycle.

Evaluate non-financial 1LOD risk and control practices against regulatory and governance standards; identify and document discrepancies and potential solutions; recommend, facilitate, and/or implement actions to address identified gaps in collaboration with BCOs and other stakeholders; and partner with Shared Services technical writers to design and document procedures for 1LOD compliance with governance standards.

Implement quality assurance protocols for Shared Services Transformation capabilities and outputs, ensuring alignment with requirements and expectations across lines of defense, such as the Governance, Risk and Controls (GRC) Quality Assurance (AQ) team, the Policy Governance Office (PGO), and Internal Audit.

Develop and maintain execution tools (e.g., style guides, playbooks, templates, and QA/QC and implementation checklists) with input from key partners and management.

Lead or assist with special projects as assigned, which may encompass the analysis, development, implementation, and/or enhancement of 1LOD risk and control practices and programs.

May oversee and develop Shared Services personnel such as Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Leads.

Assess, monitor, and/or evaluate non-financial risk and control activities and their progression within CNB's 1LOD.

Execute action plans in a dynamic environment with overlapping, interdependent, and critical regulatory and internal issue resolution projects.

Assist the Shared Services Senior Manager and BCOs in managing and fulfilling risk and control program obligations.

Identify and escalate challenges and corresponding solutions to the Shared Services Senior Manager.

Act as an active and visible resource to BCOs, offering recommendations and/or advisory services as appropriate.

Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on risk and control practices to BCO teams and other stakeholders.

Foster strong, collaborative relationships with delivery partners and promote connections between lines of defense, businesses, functions, leaders, change enablement and adoption professionals, project managers, and other stakeholders to enhance the efficient and effective utilization of Shared Services capabilities and resources.

Collaborate with relevant Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) colleagues and teams on 1LOD risk and control best practices, tools, and enablement protocols.
