Overview:
As a Communication Officer in the U.S. Navy, your mission is to articulate our narrative. Utilize your innovative skills to inform and educate the public about the remarkable accomplishments of our Sailors. Engage in global travel, document military activities, and craft prominent media initiatives. From photography and journalism to graphic design and videography, Navy Communication Officers possess a diverse skill set. We seek individuals with creativity and originality, who are willing to approach challenges from unique perspectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create print materials and multimedia content, including videos, photographs, digital graphics, web-based products, news articles, blogs, and press releases.
  • Manage and operate advanced photography and videography equipment.
  • Conduct audience research, analyze data, and provide insights to leadership.
  • Identify communication challenges and propose research-based solutions.
  • Collaborate with local media outlets to disseminate stories and develop public relations strategies.
  • Facilitate tours of ships and bases for distinguished guests and foreign dignitaries.
  • Support and collaborate with Public Affairs Officers.

Advanced Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and advise unit leaders for media engagements and press briefings.
  • Formulate content strategies and develop data-driven narratives.
  • Represent the command in communications with the media.

Qualifications:

Work Environment:
As a Communication Officer, you will have the opportunity to experience various facets of the Navy. Your assignments may take you overseas on an aircraft carrier, in the field with a construction unit, or at a domestic broadcast facility. The work environment is diverse, combining physical and creative tasks. You should be comfortable working independently or as part of a small team with minimal supervision.
