Job Overview

Position Title: Athletic Event Support Specialist

Department: Recreation Services

Reports to: Athletics Supervisor

Job Classification: Regular Part-Time, Non-exempt

Work Schedule: Flexible hours determined by scheduled events. Shifts allocated among Athletic Event Support Specialists.

Typical athletic rental hours: Monday-Friday 5pm-10pm, Saturday-Sunday 8am - 6pm.

Up to 19 hours per week

Compensation: $16.00 per hour

Position Summary

As an Athletic Event Support Specialist, you will operate under the direction of the Athletics Supervisor to facilitate, manage, and maintain athletic events. Your role will involve coordinating personnel and equipment needs to guarantee that games and practices proceed efficiently and safely, while upholding the standards of the Park District during events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare venues for events by setting up and dismantling equipment, cleaning, and ensuring that all opening and closing protocols are adhered to. This includes securing the venue and its equipment.
  • Tasks may include adjusting sports equipment, ensuring safety on the courts, cleaning spectator areas, restrooms, and floors, and returning equipment to its designated locations.
  • Engage in professional and effective communication with the public and internal staff throughout events.
  • Provide information regarding rentals for all facilities within the Addison Park District.
  • Respond to safety and emergency situations, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Arrive 20 minutes prior to events for setup.
  • Monitor activities and address inquiries, complaints, and emergencies, escalating issues to the Athletics Supervisor as necessary.
  • Observe gym activities and complete incident reports when required.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Work hours tailored to specific sports categories as directed by the Athletics Supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties or projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Some college coursework preferred).
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • CPR and AED certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to communicate in more than one language is advantageous.
