About the Role

Mesa Associates, a leading engineering, procurement, and construction management firm, is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale PV Solar and BESS Design Engineering Associate to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical systems for utility-scale PV Solar projects (20MW and larger)
  • Lead the development of electrical design packages for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects (20MW and larger)
  • Develop single line diagrams, collection system layouts, communication diagrams, power cable sizing and cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and follow applicable fire, electrical, and building codes
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders and actively participate in project plan meetings
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of inverter-based technologies commonly applied for utility-scale PV Solar and BESS projects
  • Knowledge of applicable NEC and IEEE/ANSI standards
  • Experience with electrical equipment, including MV and LV switchgear, pad mount transformer, panel boards, breakers, protective relays, inverter, UPS Systems, battery systems, DC Combiner boxes, battery chargers, disconnect switches, medium voltage cable, and low voltage cable
  • AC/DC cable sizing and cable ampacity studies
  • Short circuit and reactive capability analysis (ETAP or SKM)
  • Arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM)
  • AC and DC voltage drop calculations

Compensation

The expected compensation is a range determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, and qualifications of the candidate, internal equity, work location, and hiring department's fiscal resources.
