About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our team at Valmont Industries. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing solar racking systems that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural design calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with local building codes and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, including CAD drawings and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of solar racking systems with other infrastructure components.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve our design processes and products.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in hot-rolled and cold-formed steel design, foundation design, and building code requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of US building code requirements (ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, AISI, ACI) and experience working with SAP or ETABs.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis using ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.
  • Basic computer programming knowledge (VBA, Matlab, etc) and basic knowledge of SolidWorks (or similar) and AutoCAD.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Direct experience with solar racking structures, particularly solar trackers.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Structural engineering is highly preferred.
