Helicopter Pilot for Law Enforcement

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join DeKalb County as a Police Helicopter Pilot. As a key member of our aviation team, you will be responsible for flying helicopters as pilot-in-command or second-in-command in departmental aircraft for law enforcement-related missions, searches, or disaster assessment.
Key Responsibilities- Briefs crew members and passengers on aircraft protocol.
- Performs line pilot functions, including flying helicopters and transporting authorized personnel.
- Conducts pre-flight and post-flight inspections in accordance with Airbus Flight Manual and FAA regulations.
- Performs maintenance functions, including cleaning aircraft interiors and exteriors, refueling, and replacing light bulbs as necessary.
- Completes required training courses and exercises in compliance with FAA regulations and maintains all required licenses and flight certifications.
- Operates specialized flight-related equipment.
- Makes go/no-go flight decisions concerning weather conditions, maintenance, and other flight safety considerations.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of at least 1500 rotorcraft-helicopter flight hours, 1000 total helicopter PIC hours, including 500 hours rotorcraft turbine-engine and 250 hours rotorcraft-helicopter night flight.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license and an FAA Commercial Helicopter Certificate and FAA 1st or 2nd class medical certificate.
- License/rating/certification on an Airbus/Eurocopter AS350B2 helicopter.
