Job Summary

DeKalb County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Animal Control Officer to join our team. As a key member of our animal control unit, you will be responsible for enforcing animal-related laws and regulations, providing customer service, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the safety and well-being of animals and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce animal-related laws and regulations, including investigating complaints and reports of animal bites, cruelty, and neglect.
  • Provide customer service to animal owners, victims of animal bites, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including law enforcement, veterinary services, and animal shelters.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Participate in in-service training to maintain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience equivalent to Senior Animal Control Officer or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with the public, and handling emergency situations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
