Animal Control Specialist

DeKalb County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Animal Control Officer, Senior to join our team. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for enforcing animal-related laws and regulations, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring the welfare of animals in our community.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to animal activities, including responding to complaints and reports of animal-related incidents.
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment and vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Patrol the county to locate and assist stray, injured, or sick animals.
- Assist veterinary staff with animal examinations and provide support with animal care and handling.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of animal-related laws and regulations, as well as attend in-service training to stay up-to-date on best practices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience as an Animal Control Officer or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with the public, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
