Transportation Operations Supervisor

Job Overview

MV Transportation is in search of a Transportation Operations Supervisor. This role is essential for overseeing transit operations in alignment with client expectations, operational standards, and safety protocols. The supervisor will be responsible for guiding drivers to ensure a secure and professional service delivery.



Key Responsibilities

The primary duties include:

  • Ensuring services are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Conducting ride checks, site evaluations, and road assessments as per client and safety department guidelines.
  • Verifying that all operators are properly attired and possess the necessary licenses while on duty.
  • Responding to and documenting incidents and accidents appropriately.
  • Minimizing and effectively managing service interruptions.
  • Performing site evaluations and road assessments, documenting findings, and providing necessary reports to project personnel.
  • Checking wheelchair securement and cleanliness of vehicles in operation.
  • Monitoring transit operations for punctuality and adherence to schedules and routes.
  • Providing information to customers at key locations.
  • Assisting in managing accidents and incidents, collecting required information, and aiding dispatch and operations staff in restoring service levels.
  • Accompanying operators to medical facilities when necessary following an accident or injury, ensuring proper post-accident testing is conducted.
  • Filling in for vacant shifts as needed to maintain service delivery.
  • Conducting gate checks during pull-out or pull-in times to ensure timely service and proper completion of necessary documentation.
  • Identifying potential rerouting needs due to traffic, construction, or accidents.
  • Ensuring all operators are fit for duty and meet uniform and equipment standards.
  • Assisting operators with service or passenger-related issues.
  • Supporting dispatch and maintenance teams with vehicle changes occurring in the field.
  • Providing feedback to safety and operations departments regarding service items that impact safety and performance, identifying potential hazards, and suggesting improvements for daily operational procedures.
  • Assisting in evaluating the preventability of accidents and incidents, making recommendations for future training based on individual occurrences or system trends.
  • Accurately documenting all field observations and maintaining proper records.


Qualifications

Experience: A background in passenger transportation within a similar environment is required. Previous supervisory or training experience is preferred but not mandatory. A strong safety and service record is essential.

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications as per local contract requirements.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate safety training, driver training, and route coverage.
  • Familiarity with local training programs and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of client expectations and service performance standards.
  • Ability to manage emergency situations effectively.
  • Understanding of project-specific vehicles, components, and communication systems.
  • Awareness of State and Federal regulations and corporate safety policies.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with all departments.
  • Capability to work independently and maintain objectivity.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Medical/Physical examination.
