POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Credit Risk Analyst I plays a crucial role in formulating analytics and reporting mechanisms to identify and assess risks associated with Consumer Credit, including Direct, Indirect, Credit Card, and Mortgage sectors. This position involves monitoring credit quality trends within consumer portfolios and contributing to various risk assessments and examinations. Staying informed about industry trends and regulatory standards is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform root cause analysis to uncover opportunities for predicting, preventing, and mitigating risks across consumer business processes.
  • Develop, validate, and implement models for loss forecasting, portfolio stress testing, and account management analysis. Conduct ad-hoc analyses as needed and report on consumer credit characteristics in relation to established policies and guidelines.
  • Execute daily, monthly, and quarterly production processes meticulously while adhering to established controls and deadlines. Generate reports to analyze financial performance segmented by risk and behavior.
  • Design and interpret complex business and statistical analyses to support management decisions regarding portfolio risk management and marketing program evaluations.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with various Consumer Lending groups while maintaining objectivity. Monitor problem loan statistics and ensure compliance with reporting policies and regulatory guidance.
  • Identify and suggest potential policy and operational enhancements to improve credit quality. Evaluate new data sources and analytical tools to develop innovative risk management capabilities.
  • Prepare and present strategic recommendations and results to business partners and management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, Statistics, or Economics; a PhD is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in reporting systems, database management, and statistical modeling.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to understand various applications and business intelligence/database tools.
  • Experience managing multiple projects within expected timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience with BASE/SAS, STAT/SAS, MACRO/SAS, Graph/SAS, Mainframe SAS, and SAS Enterprise Guide.
  • At least 5 years of experience accessing and querying databases across platforms such as Oracle, DB2, MS-SQL Server, Teradata, and MS Access, including translating SQL queries and maintaining datasets.
  • Demonstrated capacity to learn and adapt to various applications and business intelligence/database tools.
