Position Overview

The Reliability Engineering Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the dependability and longevity of both new and existing machinery. This position entails spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing processes and products, serving as a vital technical resource for the operations team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies along with spare parts inventories.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analyses to identify the fundamental issues affecting equipment, aiming to optimize uptime and productivity.
  • Create and enforce innovative maintenance protocols and standard operating procedures for repairs.
  • Design and execute new methodologies for equipment monitoring and testing.
  • Explore and integrate advanced technologies and processes to boost equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate across departments to embed reliability principles into all organizational facets.
  • Oversee a range of capital and non-capital projects in the capacity of Project Manager or Lead.
  • Apply project management fundamentals, including scope definition, specification, design review, budgeting, and scheduling, all governed by change management protocols.
  • Familiarity with the Front-End Loading (FEL) process is advantageous.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members promptly and clearly; delegate tasks as necessary.
  • Coordinate contractor schedules and manage daily activities to ensure timely project completion.
  • Enhance equipment reliability and performance through data analysis and experimental assessments.
  • Implement strategies to improve profitability by maximizing operational efficiency, including waste reduction, speed optimization, and raw material utilization, utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Manage the coordination, execution, and standardization of manufacturing process enhancements and tooling.
  • Conduct work measurement studies, such as time studies and process capability assessments, to achieve predetermined objectives before formally transitioning projects to manufacturing.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement teams, potentially serving as a facilitator for one or more teams.
  • Incorporate safety considerations into all departmental activities, ensuring safe working conditions throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Research, justify, design, and implement new processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Engage in procurement activities, including soliciting bids, evaluating proposals, and making purchasing recommendations.
  • Develop countermeasures and engineering trials; assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven experience in leading diverse projects, including major equipment outages and the installation of new machinery and processes, while directing both internal and external resources.
- Proficient in facilitating and completing root cause analyses (8-D, 5 Whys) and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
- Strong computer proficiency, including AutoCAD and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional communication and analytical abilities.
