Role Summary:
Under direct supervision, the incumbent will carry out routine and repetitive assembly operations and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols in all activities and promote the Safety Program in all procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all quality standards and requirements during fabrication, inspection, and packaging tasks.
- Follow assembly or fabrication procedures, work instructions, and forms meticulously while executing tasks.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately as directed by supervisory and planning personnel.
- Perform product rewind activities as required.
- Follow instructions and manage multiple tasks to meet production deadlines and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Report any material, product, or process deficiencies immediately as per current procedures.
- Provide support to other manufacturing areas, shifts, and overtime hours as necessary to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Document all production and packaging information accurately and ensure correctness.
- Participate in 5S and housekeeping activities as assigned.
- Understand and apply the Quality Policy, quality documentation, and company objectives to all assigned tasks.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times within a team environment, upholding Cortland's reputation as a world-class supplier.
- Engage in LEAD (Lean Enterprise Across Disciplines) transformation by applying lean principles to enhance manufacturing processes and key LEAD metrics.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in using small hand tools and measurement devices.
- Demonstrated hand-eye coordination for detailed fabrication work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify potential issues and proactively recommend and implement solutions.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with other functions.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Education and Experience:
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or production is preferred.
Physical Demands:
The employee may need to lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Work can be performed in either seated or standing positions. Repetitive fabrication tasks require significant hand and finger movements.
Work Environment:
The primary work environment is a controlled manufacturing space with specific gowning and PPE requirements. Proper adherence to these gowning and PPE protocols is essential. Periodic stretching is also required as part of the job.
