Position Overview:
The University of Florida's Center for Computer Science Education is inviting applications for a Research Scientist role. This position is focused on spearheading research and development initiatives related to the preparation of Computer Science (CS) educators, in collaboration with the Center's academic team. This is a time-limited, non-tenure accruing position for a minimum of one year, contingent upon funding availability.
Center Mission:
The CS Everyone Center is dedicated to ensuring that all K-12 students have access to Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence education. The Center's efforts are concentrated in three primary areas:
- Accessibility of CS/AI Education: Developing multiple pathways for CS/AI education, including teacher training programs, certification exam preparation, and microcredential offerings.
- Growth of CS/AI Education: Engaging nationally to enhance the scalability of CS/AI education through the establishment of online communities, professional development, and support for various stakeholders in K-12 implementation.
- Research and Innovation in CS/AI Education: Advancing technological solutions and research-driven practices that promote inclusivity and access for all learners in K-12 CS/AI education.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will work closely with faculty and staff to:
- Lead initiatives in research and development focused on CS teacher preparation.
- Establish metrics and processes to evaluate project outcomes and progress.
- Oversee undergraduate and graduate research assistants.
- Ensure the successful execution of program implementation across various teams.
- Act as a subject-matter expert in CS education and teacher preparation.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science Education, educational technology, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to communicate complex topics effectively across various platforms.
- Strategic decision-making skills and the ability to plan for long-term sustainability.
- Experience in teaching CS education to both preservice and in-service educators.
