The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida seeks a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you will conduct cutting-edge research on neural and behavioral mechanisms of cognition and motivated behavior in the context of models of psychiatric and neurological conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct behavioral neuroscience experiments in rats, including operant behavioral testing, optogenetic, and fiber photometry
  • Implement and analyze in vivo fiber photometry datasets
  • Present research results through oral presentations and written manuscripts
  • Collaborate with students, post-doctoral fellows, and other faculty members to advance research goals
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, psychology, biology) and a minimum of 4 years of experience in behavioral neuroscience research
  • Strong background in coding, statistics, and experimental design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
  • Background in operant behavioral testing in rodents, optogenetic, and fiber photometry
  • Strong quantitative and computational skills
