Job Title: Full Research Scientist
Job Summary:
The University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join Dr. Chakrabarty's team in the Department of Neuroscience. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and directing research to determine the mechanisms underlying the pathophysiological development of Alzheimer's disease-type neuropathology in mouse models of amyloid β and tau.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute in vivo experiments using surgery techniques, and interpret high-volume data, such as RNAseq.
- Develop and direct research projects, train and supervise lab staff, and serve as a liaison between the PI, lab staff, and collaborators.
- Independently synthesize results into peer-reviewed manuscripts and deliver results at conferences.
- Assist the PI/supervisor in grant preparation and reporting, and maintain accurate records and legal documentation required by institutional policies.
Requirements:
- A doctoral degree in neuroscience or a closely related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in designing, execution, and interpretation of in vivo experiments using surgery techniques, and experience with high-end microscopes and data quantification.
- Ability to interpret high-volume data, such as RNAseq, and willingness to expand the applicability of these techniques.
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications and independent funding.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in coordinating experiments and collaborations between different labs, and developing new collaborations.
- Ability to direct and train new laboratory members, supervise and maintain research data records and inventories, and manage the purchase/budget needs.
- Experience in preparing manuscripts, progress reports, and grants, and ability to gain authorship or co-authorship in manuscripts.
