Job Description:

The Human Resources Technician II plays a vital role in supporting the HR Manager, Corporate Benefits Manager, and Sr. Data Analyst, while also assisting visiting guests. This individual is the backbone of the McCarty HR department, requiring a high level of confidentiality at all times.

This role involves managing multiple time-sensitive tasks, requiring a highly motivated individual who can prioritize work effectively, be task-oriented, and complete assignments accurately and on time. The Human Resources Technician II utilizes various systems and should have an early adopter mindset as new systems and technology continue to advance.

To be successful, the individual must enjoy working with others and be able to work independently in a fast-paced work environment. This role involves Human Resource communications and file management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Onboarding: responsible for entry, approvals, and verification in the system for accuracy.
  • New Hire Orientation: conducts meetings, including safety training.
  • Internal Job Posting: responsible for the process.
  • Data Entry: enters data into various databases accurately and timely as required.
  • PELA Process: tracks, collects insurance, and updates Workday accurately.
  • FML/STD Process: enters data into Workday, assists employees with questions, collects insurance, sends appropriate letters, and advises Supervisors on proper coding.
  • Layoff Process: prepares layoff forms, completes NSO data entry in Workday, updates packet information, conducts layoff meetings, and verifies KRONOS to advise Supervisors on coding.
  • HR Communications: creates flyers, job postings, internal communications, and other graphics to post or distribute to employees.
  • Front Desk Duties: greets employees and visitors, answers basic HR questions, and distributes mail throughout the department.
  • HR Department Support: leads the department in renovating the current employee filing process to electronic filing.
  • Office Organization: maintains the file room, storage rooms, conference rooms, and ensures general office areas are organized.
  • Process Improvements: facilitates improvements for the department.
  • Special Events: assists with Blood Drive, 401K meetings, Health Fair, Open Enrollment, Flu Shot, Mammogram, Dinosaur and Retiree celebration, and coordinates other HR meetings as needed.
  • Shared Work and Unemployment Claims: supports processing of shared work and unemployment claims.
  • Catalyst Invoicing and P-Card Allocation: allocates Catalyst invoicing and P-Card allocation in a timely manner.
  • HR Rotary and Communication Boards: monitors HR rotary and other communication boards to ensure adequate forms are available and current information is posted.
  • Filing: responsible for all filing, including personnel files, medical, and benefit filing.
  • Scholastic Employee Library: manages the Scholastic Employee Library.
Qualifications:
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects with regular interruptions and with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality is a must.
  • Extensive and proficient knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and the ability to learn new programs and technologies.
  • Ability to prioritize work is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility with shift schedule and ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Smartsheet experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed, including running company errands for departmental needs.
  • Data Entry experience is required.
