Department/Unit Overview

The operating room is a vital area with six beds, managing an average of 400 surgical cases monthly. The range of procedures performed includes various specialties such as Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Cataract and Retinal Eye surgeries, Gynecologic, Laparoscopic and Endoscopic, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Plastic and Reconstructive, Prostate, and Gastroenterological surgeries. The predominant cases are general and orthopedic. Surgical operations occur Monday through Friday, supplemented by night, weekend, and holiday on-call rotations to ensure uninterrupted service.

Qualifications and Requirements
A graduate of an accredited BSN program is required, with a Master's Degree preferred, and a current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in North Carolina or from a Compact State. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressive experience in operating room nursing, demonstrating managerial, supervisory, and administrative skills.

Additional requirements include:

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
  • One year of experience in a similar role is preferred
