Operating Room Technician

The Surgical Services Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the surgical operating room is prepared and maintained to the highest standards. This position involves:
- Preparing the surgical environment with necessary drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assisting in the preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping of patients for surgical procedures.
- Passing instruments to the surgeon during operations while keeping a meticulous account of all instruments and supplies used.
- Receiving and processing specimens for laboratory analysis.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Preferred Education:
Certification as a Surgical Technician or completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program is preferred.
Membership in the Association of Surgical Technologists, at either the national or local level, is preferred.
Essential SkillsCertifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire and maintained thereafter.
Critical Skills:
This role requires strong critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. The ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment is essential.
