About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall availability and reliability of our data center operations, meeting or exceeding defined service levels.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding, experience in people management, and the drive and vision to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level. You will lead teams in hardware and network diagnostics, followed by physical repair, and participate in an on-call rotation. Effective communication, work prioritization, and organizational skills are critical to success in this role.

You will work closely with our team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of professional or military experience in an IT related field.
  • 2+ years of experience managing people in a technical environment.
  • 2+ years experience in participating in on-call rotations, and providing after-hours support in an environment that operates 24/7
  • 2+ years of experience with Networking, or Computer hardware.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of previous Data Center Management experience.
  • Effective communication and decision making skills
  • Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Project Management experience
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • High level knowledge of Linux systems administration.
