Serán BioScience is seeking a proficient tradesperson to enhance the technical expertise of the Facilities team in the capacity of Maintenance Technician II. This role is pivotal in executing and documenting a wide range of responsibilities across campus facilities, which encompass cGMP manufacturing, warehouse, and laboratory settings. The primary duties include the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of facility utilities and equipment, adhering to safety protocols, preventive measures, and productive maintenance practices.

About Serán BioScience: We specialize in delivering complex drug therapies to market through a comprehensive suite of drug-development services and GMP manufacturing. Training will be provided for candidates lacking GMP experience, while those with relevant experience are preferred.   • Conduct and document preventative and productive maintenance on both GMP and non-GMP facility systems.
  • Perform regular quality checks on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Assist in the on-the-job training of newly recruited maintenance technicians.
  • Identify immediate and potential safety hazards and take appropriate actions to report and address them.
  • Execute and manage daily and weekly work orders, maintenance tasks, and reports with minimal supervision.
  • Request, organize, and maintain tools and equipment necessary for job performance.
  • Coordinate and support contractors working on facility buildings and equipment.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in the daily operations of repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment is maintained.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to troubleshoot effectively for optimal outcomes.
  • Be available for a varied on-call schedule, which may include evenings, nights, weekends, or other non-routine hours in case of emergencies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience and working knowledge of facility systems, including HVAC, compressed gases, water systems (such as purified water and steam), electrical systems, and automation/controls.
  • Ability to assemble and inspect equipment.
  • Capability to assess equipment failure situations and develop effective action plans.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow operation manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with hands-on technical skills.
  • Awareness of safety protocols and proper safety behavior.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of tools and equipment utilized in the role.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and respond effectively to changes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in building maintenance or a related field is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in a cGMP environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically capable of working throughout various facilities.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crawl, or climb ladders for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in environments with extreme temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Must maintain personal vehicle insurance.
Compensation will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the selected candidate.
