Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Child Protective Investigator to join our team at the Department of Children and Families. As a Senior Child Protective Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting investigations regarding allegations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and exploitation of children. You will work closely with families, children, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and timely investigations of allegations of child abuse, neglect, abandonment, and exploitation.
  • Collect and analyze information through interviews with children, parents, relatives, neighbors, and other parties associated with the case.
  • Engage families and identify needs to determine the level of intervention required, including voluntary services or court-ordered dependency services.
  • Provide recommendations for case plan development to Case Managers.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing child Present and Impending Danger assessments.
  • Develop and implement safety plans for identified threats and interventions.
  • Arrange emergency placements for children who cannot safely remain in their homes.
  • Notify state attorney, law enforcement, child protection team, and other required individuals as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain thorough documentation in client records and information systems.
  • Report indications of abuse, neglect, and abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Child Welfare experience, preferably in Child Protective Investigations.
  • Current/active Child Welfare Certification credentials from the Florida Certification Board.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must possess operational private vehicle for use in daily work activities.
