Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our employees and the community by developing and implementing fire protection programs and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement fire protection programs and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct fire hazard analyses and risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Design and implement fire protection systems, including fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and fire detection systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that fire protection systems are integrated with other safety systems.
  • Develop and maintain fire safety training programs for employees.
  • Investigate fires and incidents to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in fire protection engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards, including NFPA and ICC.
  • Experience with fire protection system design and implementation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in fire protection engineering.
  • Experience working in a Department of Energy National Laboratory or a similar federal AHJ environment.
  • Familiarity with the fire protection requirements of DOE Order 420.1 and DOE Standard 1066.
