Meta is seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to join our Optical Technologies Group. As an Optical Engineer, you will play a critical role in qualifying optical communications modules for our cutting-edge data center network.
Responsibilities:- Collaborate with Meta engineers to develop next-generation optical communication technology, with a focus on testing optical modules and subsystems for data center applications.
- Work in a collaborative environment across Meta teams, including SW, Thermal, Mechanical, and EE.
- Develop test and simulation methodologies for high-speed optical technologies.
- Develop automation practices and solutions for lab testing.
- Lead new optical communication NPI programs, working closely with optics vendors and ODMs.
- Interface with the industry and contribute to the RFI/RFP process for optical solutions.
- Communicate complex optical hardware requirements to non-experts both internally and to industry-facing stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Sciences and Engineering, and/or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the development and validation of optical communication components, such as lasers, transmitters, receivers, and transceivers.
- 5+ years of experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment, control, data acquisition, and test automation.
- Experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and test automation.
- Programming skills in one or more of the following: Python, C/C++, or MATLAB.
- Experience working in distributed software development environments.
- Experience with system-level optical communication hardware and components.
- Experience in creating or influencing product requirements documents (PRDs) and data sheets.
- Experience with advanced modulation formats, direct detect, and coherent systems.
