Position Overview:
The Lead Controls Engineering Manager will oversee a team of Controls Engineers, focusing on their development and the quality of their output. This role involves mentoring new and existing staff, ensuring high standards of performance and productivity.
Regular collaboration with the Engineering Manager will be essential to allocate tasks effectively, manage workloads, and strategize for future departmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design comprehensive building automation systems, including the selection and sizing of controllers, sensors, and related hardware.
3. Maintain thorough documentation of the BAS design and manage revisions.
4. Configure site-specific systems and program control algorithms, including third-party integrations.
5. Create user-friendly graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
6. Conduct rigorous testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
7. Perform functional testing of complex systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
8. Provide technical support during the sales process to align customer needs with optimal solutions.9. Mentor and develop the skills of other Controls Engineers.
10. Conduct quality control reviews for all direct reports.
11. Coordinate deliverable timelines with Project Managers to ensure project milestones are met.
12. Lead performance evaluations for engineering staff, fostering clear communication and expectation management.13. Uphold safety standards and promote a culture of safety among employees and subcontractors.
14. Participate in the recruitment process for new engineering positions.
15. Adhere to ethical standards, exemplifying the Carrier code of ethics.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC controls, or a high school diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Advanced degree in engineering or a related field with 5+ years of experience in HVAC controls.
3. Proficient in designing and programming complex projects.
4. Ability to interpret technical documents and deliver compliant designs.5. Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
6. Excellent organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Visio and other CAD software, with a solid understanding of building automation software and protocols.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, even in remote troubleshooting scenarios.
9. Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
