Assistant Vice President, Commercial Auto and Trucking Claims Management

Job Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, a rapidly expanding commercial insurance provider, is seeking an Assistant Vice President for our Commercial Auto and Trucking claims division. The ideal candidate will lead the Auto and Trucking teams, overseeing all facets of claims management while exhibiting a comprehensive understanding of procedures and exemplary claims processing.



Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the development and effectiveness of the Trucking and Commercial Auto claims teams, ensuring high-quality, precise, and timely resolution of complex commercial liability claims.
  • Continuously enhance team capabilities by providing opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
  • Assess team performance, identifying trends and root causes of issues, and escalate concerns or propose solutions to operational leadership.
  • Foster a culture dedicated to identifying process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to cultivating an engaged and high-performing workforce by selecting top talent, providing ongoing coaching, and recognizing exemplary employee contributions.
  • Champion exceptional claims customer service by understanding and exceeding stakeholder expectations.
  • Develop and implement a quality assurance agenda, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
  • Identify and integrate best practices and technological advancements to optimize claims processes and workflows.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years in leadership roles within the insurance claims sector.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in Commercial Auto and/or Motor Carrier bodily injury claims, including excess/umbrella coverage.
  • Expertise across multiple jurisdictions.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; an advanced degree, such as a Juris Doctor (J.D.), is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse claims teams across various locations.
  • Experience directly overseeing managers responsible for comprehensive claims handling.
  • Active participation in claims discussions focusing on coverage, liability, and damage assessment.
  • Collaborate with managers to evaluate claims staff performance, ensuring adherence to company standards and quality control through audits and reviews.
  • Facilitate negotiation processes for claims settlements to ensure cost-effective resolutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and state regulations regarding claims handling.
  • Continuously refine claims processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Create an environment that promotes transparency, accountability, and professional development.
  • Possess strong communication skills, capable of presenting to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrate analytical and interpersonal skills essential for effective leadership.
  • Exhibit the ability to synthesize data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
