About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer III to join our team at Dennis Group Springfield. As a key member of our Building Systems department, you will be responsible for designing and building new food and beverage process facilities, focusing on land development and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop land development plans, building pads, and infrastructure for new facilities
  • Perform moderate design tasks, including CAD drawings and project documentation
  • Conduct procurement tasks, such as bid list development and preliminary bid evaluation
  • Administer construction projects, including complex submittal review and response to RFIs
  • Develop site basis of design documents and edit project specifications
  • Design parking lot layouts and analyze and design institutional, industrial, and commercial building sites
  • Review historical site drawings and determine site objectives alignment with existing conditions
  • Understand pavement materials, design pavement sections, and construction methods
  • Determine land use characteristics and assign runoff coefficients, calculate times of concentrations, and perform pre-development hydrologic analysis
  • Develop design approaches for site factoring in topography, existing drainage conditions, outfalls, site constraints, and detention pond design
  • Design channel linings, advance site grading using Civil 3D, and perform trust restraint calculations for pressure systems
  • Understand BMPs for EPSC, prepare storm drainage reports, and prepare engineering calculations and sketches
  • Prepare land development plans, site grading, utility, and drainage design for planning, permitting, and construction
  • Review drawings and coordinate the project team, prepare bid packages, and provide construction administration
  • Develop bidder lists, visit project sites to observe field conditions, evaluate design constraints, and research civil engineering materials and best practices
  • Support talent growth within the organization and provide coaching and/or mentoring to subordinate groups
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in civil engineer tasks involving industrial construction projects
  • 7+ years of experience in drainage, grading, and utility design for industrial or commercial projects
  • 7+ years of experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed (up to 15 days a year)
  • License: EIT
