Fleet Maintenance Manager Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our fixed route bus operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing maintenance functions, directing a team of technicians, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct a team of fleet technicians, service workers, and cleaners to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, reports, and budgets to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to manage parts inventories and ensure timely delivery of necessary components.
  • Monitor and control maintenance costs to ensure optimal fleet performance and minimize downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including clients, to ensure seamless operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience managing maintenance functions in a transit bus operation.
  • Proven track record of directing a team of 10+ employees and managing complex maintenance operations.
  • Experience working with 50+ buses and managing parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Strong technical competence in light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to manage financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASE or manufacturer's certifications.
  • Technical experience with fixed route transit bus maintenance.
  • Experience with diesel, CNG, and alternative fuels.
  • CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement.
