Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Breast Medical Oncology at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care, working collaboratively with attending physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process.
  • Work in collaboration with attending supervising/collaborating physicians to obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review/orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, and formulate and manage patient treatment plans.
  • Prescribe treatment and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines, and may function as first or second assistant on operative cases.
  • Respond to emergency situations within YNHHS parameters.
  • Educate patients/families on care and recommended resources, and provide psychosocial support to patients, their family members, and significant others in a caring, ethical, and professional manner.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation within hospital and regulatory requirements, and protect information from unauthorized access.
  • Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care, and ensure compliance with patient-related healthcare regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Prefer clinical working experience as a NP/PA within the given specialty/service line, but none required. Evidence of current competence to practice must be obtained during the Medical Staff appointment process.
  • Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, and other certifications as indicated for the position profile.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oncology experience is preferred; chemotherapy prescribing experience and oncology certification is a plus.
Work Environment

This is a days position, 7A-5:30P.
