JOB SUMMARY: The Educational Support Specialist will collaborate with the teacher and classroom team to foster a healthy, positive, safe, and structured educational environment for students with disabilities. The Specialist will also contribute to the overall school atmosphere by assisting in the development, preparation, and implementation of strategies aimed at achieving positive outcomes for students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the classroom teacher in modifying lesson plans and implementing strategies for student success.
  • Support all students in the classroom, including supervision during lunch, outdoor activities, and arrival/departure times as directed by the Principal.
  • Engage in the development, revision, and execution of behavior management plans in collaboration with clinical services and teaching staff.
  • Help maintain documentation for each student and collect necessary student data.
  • Work with the teacher on classroom design, lesson planning, and assist with parent communications.
  • Support students in achieving their goals through transition activities such as volunteering, internships, and temporary employment.
  • Attend all staff meetings and be willing to participate in school committees as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with students with disabilities and behaviorally challenged individuals, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience in behavior management, crisis intervention, and problem-solving techniques is a plus.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse staff and client populations.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
