About the Role

The Department of Corrections Executive Leadership is seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely management of inmate accounts and payroll.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely transactions in inmate accounts and disbursement of funds
  • Maintain inmate payroll program, including weekly time sheets and auditing time reports
  • Compute adjustments and calculate financial data
  • Post receipt of inmate/offender and institution cash funds
  • Update and prepare spreadsheets and other reports/statements
  • Process payments and reconcile bank statements
  • Research and respond to inmate and DOC staff information requests
  • Utilize computerized financial programs for reports, information, and financial records

Requirements

  • Bookkeeping and cash control experience
  • General office practices and standard office equipment operation
  • Computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry
  • Basic computer skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Basic mathematic techniques and ability to work accurately and rapidly with figures
  • Organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively with the general public, staff, and inmates

How to Apply

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and pass a pre-employment drug screen. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
