Job Summary

The Senior Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in the Personnel and Payroll Operations Bureau, serving as an expert resource and staff specialist. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and guidance to staff on payroll and personnel-related matters.
  • Research and resolve complex payroll and personnel problems, ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain specialized training programs and internal procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in payroll processing.
  • Represent the department on intra- and inter-departmental teams, providing technical expertise and support on payroll and personnel-related matters.
  • Participate in meetings to improve personnel and payroll efficiencies on a statewide basis, providing input and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Provide information to the supervisor regarding unit operational needs, concerns, and improvements to existing policies and procedures.
