Overview

The Credentialing Coordinator for Medical Staff at AHMC HealthCare is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the credentialing process for medical staff and allied health professionals. This includes managing the processing of new applications, reappointments, and resignations. The Coordinator is tasked with maintaining and updating privilege lists and serves as the primary contact for the physician database management. Additionally, this role involves significant participation in the Credentials Committee and the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee, ensuring that all necessary documentation is prepared for physician evaluations and actively engaging in accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
 A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
 Previous experience in credentialing and privileging is essential.
 Proficiency in writing meeting summaries and transcribing minutes.
 Experience with credentialing databases is advantageous.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
 No specific certifications are required; however, CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
 Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage extensive paperwork accurately.
 Capability to handle a high volume of credential files while adhering to tight deadlines.
 Commitment to staying informed about evolving regulatory requirements.
 Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
 Familiarity with medical terminology is highly desirable.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Oversee the credentialing and onboarding processes for medical staff and allied health professionals, including the management of new applicants, reappointments, temporary privileges, and resignations.
2. Act as a super-user and trainer for the physician database, liaising with the help desk as necessary and designing report filters and outputs.
3. Organize monthly Credentials Committee and Interdisciplinary Practice Committee meetings, including preparing agenda packets, securing physician reviewers, documenting minutes, and following up on outstanding issues.
4. Compile and prepare the monthly hospital board report.
5. Maintain and regularly update privilege lists for medical staff and allied health professionals.

6. Monitor the proctoring of physicians and allied health professionals, addressing any delinquencies.
7. Stay current with the JCAHO credentialing and privileging processes.
8. Ensure that credential files are orderly, complete, and ready for surveys.
9. Secure all necessary documents for credentialing and follow up on any outstanding items.
10. Gather required credentialing quality assurance information from various departments within the organization.
