About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. as a Winter Seasonal - Full Time employee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily specials, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  • Oversee the delegation and follow-up of work duties for kitchen staff, promoting a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Research, develop, and modify recipes to maintain a competitive edge in the culinary industry.
  • Operate computer systems, purchasing guides, receipt logs, and chefs' daily logs to ensure accurate record-keeping and inventory management.
  • Receive and store food properly, adhering to established health and safety procedures.
  • Assist in planning and maintaining quality and production control systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise the cleaning and organizing of all storage areas, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with training programs for kitchen staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement effective food purchasing and menu costing strategies, ensuring optimal inventory control and reporting.
  • Meet and exceed budgetary goals for Cost of Goods and Labor expense, driving business growth and profitability.
  • Provide exceptional service to internal and external customers, adhering to Resort Etiquette and responding to guest inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in supervising all kitchen staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • At least one year of experience as a Sous Chef, Chef, or Kitchen Manager, with a proven track record of success in a fast-paced culinary environment.
  • Ability to work all stations in the kitchen, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers, and management.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry 25-50 pounds, and read, speak, and understand English.
