Job Overview

A prominent global law firm is seeking a Legal Billing Compliance Specialist to enhance their operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that billing practices align with client expectations through thorough examination of Outside Counsel Guidelines. Key responsibilities include invoice assessment, providing training for attorneys and staff on timekeeping, assisting in budget preparation, and conducting comprehensive analyses of client financials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reviews of Outside Counsel Guidelines and create summaries for distribution to all timekeepers associated with the client.
  • Facilitate training sessions for timekeepers to ensure adherence to guidelines, covering narrative etiquette, expense allowances, and appropriate task and activity code usage.
  • Develop and implement best practice procedures to streamline the billing process for both partners and clients.
  • Generate reports and analyses as needed to support decision-making.
  • Regularly monitor inventory to meet billing deadlines and reduce the billing and collections cycle.
  • Act as a liaison among clients, partners, and assistants to address any issues that require follow-up and resolution.
  • Coordinate efforts among internal staff, vendor personnel, and designated client representatives.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus on Accounting or Business being highly desirable.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in law firm e-billing is required.
  • Proficiency with various e-billing protocols, vendors, and the e-Billing Hub is essential. Previous experience with third-party e-billing software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with best practices for billing and collections within the legal sector is necessary.
  • Exceptional communication skills are required to interact effectively with personnel at all levels, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to strategize, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.
