Fire Safety Technician Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fire Safety Technician role encompasses the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire safety and security systems, requiring minimal oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Familiarity with various clean agent and high-pressure suppression systems.
  • Utilizing appropriate tools and testing equipment to repair or replace system components.
  • Comprehension of fire alarm regulations and standards.
  • Programming and software proficiency for fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnosing issues to identify faults within systems.
  • Repairing or substituting damaged components.
  • Maintaining professional communication with clients.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Employing Field Service Lightning for managing work orders.
  • Documenting work orders thoroughly.
  • Engaging in safety training programs and initiatives.
  • Mentoring junior service technicians.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation for urgent requests.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • NICET Level 1 Fire Alarm Certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years in the Fire Life Safety Industry.
  • At least 2 years of professional computer experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Proficient communication skills in English.

SYSTEMS AND SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY:

  • 2 years of experience with business intelligence systems.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Willingness to travel locally approximately 90% of the time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical demands include lifting, bending, standing, and working at elevated heights. The work environment may involve exposure to various elements such as temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise.
