Position Overview:

The Senior Security Systems Specialist is responsible for managing security services and systems within the Communications Center at Johns Hopkins University. This role involves overseeing a dedicated team and ensuring the effectiveness of security operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and guide a team of four security systems specialists, including scheduling and task assignments.
  • Conduct inspections of work performed and assess the performance of team members.
  • Monitor and respond to various alarm systems, including intrusion, environmental, and fire alarms.
  • Provide technical support for closed-circuit television systems.
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors with inquiries and support.
  • Manage administrative duties related to the Communications Center.
  • Coordinate emergency response actions and the deployment of security personnel.
  • Relay information regarding Baltimore Police Department activities.
  • Compile and maintain detailed reports, logs, and records.
  • Regularly test and evaluate security systems for effectiveness.
  • Fill in for Security Systems Specialists as necessary.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capacity to perform well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Maryland State Police / F.B.I. background check.
  • Health screening and drug testing are mandatory.
  • Must meet physical requirements set by Campus Safety and Security.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods.
  • Full auditory and visual capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four years of relevant experience, including two years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Associate Degree or some college education is preferred.
