Position Overview:

Audubon is actively seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves executing advanced mechanical engineering tasks related to the design of equipment, components, and systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently develop comprehensive specifications for project tasks, outlining client performance criteria, component specifications, design requirements, and vendor documentation needs.
  • Create engineering sketches, conduct calculations, and formulate analysis models for complex project tasks.
  • Review and validate vendor drawings to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Engage in effective communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish realistic project expectations and ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Follow company quality protocols and engineering verification processes.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, security, and environmental standards as mandated by the company and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in hazard identification and reporting programs, addressing any unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Collaborate with the drafting/design team to create and assess engineering drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate project requirements and conditions.
  • Inspect vendor facilities to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and bid evaluations related to equipment procurement.
  • Perform checks on engineering drawings and calculations.
  • Focus on safe design practices while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage project workloads, budgets, and resources, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Develop and review engineering design packages, both conceptual and detailed.
  • Contribute to the creation of internal design guidelines and specifications.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing materials, costs, and timelines, applying engineering principles and advanced mathematics.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, plans, and schedules for projects.
  • Analyze various strategies and applications to ensure proper procedures are utilized, resolving design and development challenges.
  • Foster client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
  • Compile discipline-specific man-hour estimates and project cost forecasts based on client-provided scopes.
  • Assess potential project risks, including construction costs and regulatory compliance, and implement risk management strategies.
  • Conduct technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.
  • May lead large-scale, multi-discipline projects, managing daily workflows and delegating tasks as needed.
  • Provide feedback on co-worker performance and address any work-related issues.
  • Offer guidance on best practices and technical expertise to team members.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • ABET Accredited Institution degree is preferred.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Field experience is necessary.
  • Industry experience is essential.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience is preferred.
  • Experience as a lead engineer on large multi-discipline projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Caesar II, NozzlePRO, and/or PIPE-FLO software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of piping systems and process equipment design is preferred.
  • Understanding of piping, pressure vessel, and equipment codes (ASME, API, etc.) is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to direct projects to completion.
