Job Title: Director, Payroll

At Grainger, we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive work environment that fosters growth and development for our team members. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Payroll to lead our North American payroll delivery and compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for payroll operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead the execution of regular payroll, variable pay programs, foreign assignment payroll, garnishments, and payroll tax.
  • Provide guidance and support to international businesses to facilitate global expansion.
  • Stay up-to-date with current market trends and implement innovative solutions to drive business growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with 3rd party vendors to ensure accurate and compliant payroll services.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, assign performance objectives, and support team development.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of HR leadership experience, preferably in payroll functions.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to interpret data.
  • Strong management skills and thorough understanding of local, state, and federal payroll laws and taxes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing information systems to support business processes.
  • Demonstrated experience directly managing a team of people.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in HR processes and supported technology applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
