The Quarry Plant Manager is accountable for overseeing the operational management of two limestone aggregate facilities, with a production capacity of 2.3 million tons per year, situated in the Texas region.
Key responsibilities encompass site planning, pit development, quality control, and maintenance operations. Collaborate closely with maintenance teams to monitor, suggest, and execute repairs and routine maintenance of equipment and grounds. Investigate unusual operational incidents or equipment malfunctions to identify causes; make necessary adjustments, repairs, and modifications. Manage all aspects of mine planning, operations, finances, safety, environmental compliance, personnel management, and community relations in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the team to maintain a zero-incident safety record through a behavior-based safety program.
- Foster teamwork and provide robust leadership, training, and supervision to a management team and over 55 employees.
- Ensure adherence to effective quality control measures to meet specifications.
- Maintain all equipment in optimal working condition through predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
- Achieve targeted production throughput rates and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee all mine planning, operational, financial, safety, environmental, personnel, and community relations duties.
- Coordinate work requirements with district, division, and corporate support teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (preferably Mining or Civil) or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in plant management, ideally within the mining sector.
- Experience managing an aggregate rail facility is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Thorough understanding of MSHA regulations and a strong commitment to safety.
- Solid grasp of aggregate processing and related equipment.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven leadership capabilities with a track record of fostering employee engagement in safety and quality.
- Experience managing a large workforce effectively.
- High ethical standards and sound judgment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, as necessary.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Manual dexterity and visual ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain at outdoor facilities.
- Capability to climb ladders and steps up to approximately 50 feet.
- Able to work at heights on platforms and catwalks.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to perform safety inspections and utilize files.
This is a full-time salaried position, which may require extended hours and occasional weekend work.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Regular local travel will be necessary, primarily within the quarries and district office, with occasional overnight travel for training and development.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Most work will be conducted outdoors, requiring adaptability to various weather conditions. Must be able to work in environments with noise levels up to 85 decibels.
