Career Transition Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Transition Specialist to join our team at Memphis-Shelby County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing career exploration and readiness services to juvenile justice youth, evaluating participants' needs, and developing plans to address behavioral, social, psychological, and career readiness issues.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social science, education, or a related field, with at least two years of experience working with at-risk youth, juvenile justice, and/or career readiness education. A valid state driver's license is required, and a bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
The Career Transition Specialist will work closely with school-based and community partners to identify student cohorts for project participation, develop and distribute interest surveys, and perform academic and behavioral reviews. The successful candidate will also facilitate the implementation and compliance of intensive support and career readiness services provided to students, monitor the integrity of academic and behavior support services, and hold regular progress review meetings and reports of service interventions.
The Career Transition Specialist will serve as an advocate for students and a liaison between the schools and the appropriate agencies providing services to juvenile justice students in need of additional support. The successful candidate will also facilitate the development of collaborative programs with social, community, mental health, and workforce readiness partners, and serve as an advocate for ongoing and improved community, court, and school services to meet the needs of students and families.
The Career Transition Specialist will work collaboratively with project partners through planning, progress meetings, professional development, and training. The successful candidate will also gather information to support periodic and special reports documenting activities related to program goals and objectives, and conduct staff or project partner professional meetings to exchange information related to completion of program goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and community partners. The successful candidate will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and make informed decisions.
