Advanced Practice Provider for Hematology and Transplant Care

Position Overview: The Advanced Practice Provider specializing in Blood Cancers, Transplant & Cellular Therapy (Inpatient) is dedicated to delivering exceptional care within the inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit. This role involves close collaboration with physicians to support patients diagnosed with hematological malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and MDS, who are undergoing various treatment modalities including bone marrow transplants and CAR-T therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing physical assessments tailored to the patient's age and diagnosis, including mental health evaluations.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to formulate, implement, and assess individualized patient care plans, which include ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Exhibit proficiency in technical and procedural skills relevant to the specialty area.
  • Provide essential management, referrals, and educational resources to patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment and preventive health strategies.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives through organized group activities, workshops, and meetings aimed at enhancing clinical and operational performance.
  • Collaborate on research initiatives and protocols, identifying areas for enhancement in departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in nursing or a related field, with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program.
  • Graduation from a Master's degree or higher program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Preferred one year of experience in hematology oncology, including skills in bone marrow biopsies and chemotherapy administration.
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Texas State Board of Nursing, with prescriptive authority.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from a recognized organization.
